COVID-19 Updates

This year has been nothing if it hasn’t been challenging. But Ontario small businesses have demonstrated their grit and resiliency. We are beginning to find a new normal as we continue to balance economic and public health concerns. It is important to rely on accurate information when making informed decisions critical to your family and business.

At BizWize we are committed to serving and supporting our clients and community during this time. Economic supports and programs available to businesses and individuals are consistently evolving and eligibility rules can be extensive and complex. To support our clients, we have created free Bulletins outlining the details of available Financial Assistance Programs that we hope you will find useful. Our expanded services now include Loan and Subsidy Application Assistance including CEBA, TWS and CEWS.

It’s business as usual for all our regularly offered services. Please see our Services page for more detail.

If you have any questions or concerns, or wish to engage any of our services, please Contact Us at 289-221-2650 or at info@bizwize.ca

With unwavering support,

Important COVID Updates

Rent relief

NEW Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy (CERS) will replace the failed CECRA program, and will provide direct rental and mortgage support to eligible businesses until June 2021. If you qualify, the subsidy will cover up to 65% of eligible rent costs until December 19th. Applications open in November and businesses will be able to make retroactive claims for the period between September 28th and October 24th. A top up of 25% will be available if your business is ordered to close its doors by public health officials.

Emergency Loans

The Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA) has increased by from $40,000.00 to $60,000.00, and up to $20,000 of this will be forgivable (up from the previous $10,000.00), provided the loan is repaid by the deadline. Applications will be open until December 31st. If you have already accessed CEBA, you will be eligible for this expansion if your business has been affected by COVID-19.

As of October 26, 2020, eligible Canadian businesses that currently operate through a personal bank account are now able to apply for CEBA.

Wage Subsidy

The Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) program will be extended until June 2021 and will remain at its current level of 65% (including the 25% top up) until December 19th, as opposed to staggered decline as previously announced.

ESA RULES

  • Employees will no longer be deemed to be on infectious disease emergency leave

  • The ESA’s regular rules around constructive dismissal resume. This means a significant reduction or elimination of an employee’s hours of work or wages may constitute a constructive dismissal (even if done for reasons related to COVID-19).

  • The ESA’s regular rules around temporary layoff resume. For practical purposes, an employee’s temporary layoff clock re-sets January 3, 2021.

  • Click here for more information on extending job protection until January 2nd.

We want to make sure you are maximizing the subsidies that are available to you. Contact us for questions regarding or assistance with CEWS and other subsidies.
